Many small scale green roofs do not make it past dreaming and renderings. How do you, as a designer or homeowner, put together a green roof that will actually be realized?

Join Greenway Studio Architecture, Frontera Homes, and BC Green Roof for home tour and a talk at the ‘Grotto’ house. This project featured in Victoria’s Spruce Magazine and Dwell Magazine and was recognized with four Victoria CARE awards, as well as being selected as one of Dwell magazine’s most popular homes of 2023.

 

The talk will focus on:

‍• The nature of small scale (under 500m2) green roofs and how they differ from green roofs on larger buildings.
• The most important thing that small green roofs must have, based on our experience, is to have the best chance to be realized
• Location specific approaches to assemblies and planting.
• Practical realities of construction, budget, and insurance.
